Von Spakovsky: Will Military Voters be Disenfranchised?

Published Mon, Nov 2 2009 3:51 PM

At National Review Online, Hans von Spakovsky asks whether overseas absentee ballots in the Virginia and NY-23 elections will be counted. In Virginia, apparently some localities did not mail requested absentee ballots within 45 days of the election as required by a new Virginia law. In New York, Governor Patterson set the special election with only 35 days notice, short of the recommended 45 days. Von Spakovsky asks: "So when did the counties in the 23rd congressional district actually get their ballots printed and mailed out to military voters (such as the thousands of members of the Tenth Mountain Division deployed in Afghanistan)?"
