Hollywood for Ugly People – Party Crashers Edition
Yet another couple in search of reality TV stardom has found their fifteen minutes of fame. However, unlike "Balloon Boy" this duo may be bound for primetime. By now I'm sure you all know that Michaele and Tareq Salahi crashed President Obama's first State Dinner.
Washington DC has long been sought after for reality TV offerings. Whether the ill-fated docudrama K Street, or the next season of the Real World, our nation's capitol is getting some attention. The Real Housewives of Washington DC has been not-so-quietly casting here in town, as has a show following the lives of younger socialites, the Blonde Charity Mafia. In a city built on politics and subtlety I suspect these shows have been struggling to attract the cast members they desire. Enter stage right, Michaele Salahi. If one reviews her Wikipedia entry, one sees she's no stranger to controversy and appears desperate for fifteen minutes in the limelight. Her Facebook page encourages you to become a supporter to see which event she will be lending her support to next. Salahi seems to have built her "career" to tailor herself for an appearance on the Real Housewives. In fact, she had entered into a contract with Bravo Television.
This contract apparently prohibited her from revealing the exclusive details of her surreptitious entry into the State Dinner to anyone other than NBC. It's funny that in the midst of Salahi's public scrutiny and attempts to make a profit, simple contract law is what's stopping her from appearing on Larry King. I suspect this latest stunt of sneaking into the White House will help seal her deal with Bravo.
