Obomination: Obama Declares War Against Voter ID

Many members of the media and commentators are talking about the supposed “GOP war on voting.”  However, it’s really Obama who has taken the offensive on voter ID.  According to the Wall Street Journal, “the Obama re-election campaign will mount…an unprecedented ‘voter protection’ effort, fielding thousands of volunteers in battleground states to help navigate new election laws, months earlier than past efforts.” Obama has already called voter protection his “big priority” and pledged that the Justice Department would scrutinize voter ID laws.  Last week in Wisconsin, the Obama team approved educational materials to counter the state new voter ID law.

Why is Obama deploying this anti-voter ID effort?  A black Congressman who offered the seconding speech for Obama is now a stalwart supporter of voter ID. The Democratic legislature in Rhode Island passed a voter ID bill which had been sponsored by African American senior Harold Metts.  The only study finding voter ID laws would prevent minority turnout has been discredited

Just yesterday, House Democrats held a press conference in the Capitol Visitor’s Center asking secretaries of state in all states to oppose voter ID.  Why is Congressional Black Caucus chairman Rep. Emanuel Cleaver “ashamed” of new voter ID laws when another former member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Artur Davis (who represented Selma, Alabama) is convinced they are the “right” thing for America?

Apparently, Obama and the Democratic elites are not watching the news (or simply choose to ignore it).  Vote fraud is in the news, in the few outlets that report it.  Just this week, five individuals were arrested for multiple vote fraud crimes in a school district race in Florida.

Sean Spicer of the Republican National Committee said, “It's somewhat concerning that the president’s own team is seeking to undermine laws that ensure only registered voters actually vote.”  Spicer is right, but it’s more than somewhat concerning.  It’s an obomination.
