The Importance of Promoting Federal Judges

With the nomination and confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch, it goes without saying that President Trump hit it out of the park. Last month after the Supreme Courtís first term with Justice Gorsuch came to a close, opinions on cases regarding the First Amendment including free speech and freedom of religion already show that Justice Gorsuch was the perfect successor to the late Justice Scalia.

President Trump surely set the bar high with Justice Gorsuch, but he still has a long way to go with other federal judicial appointments. Back in May, President Trump announced his first wave of conservative federal judge nominees, starting to fill currently over 150 vacancies.

The left has already been quick to attack these nominees who have been thoroughly vetted by the White House with help from such organizations as the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society. Among those being attacked are Justice Joan Larsen of the Michigan Supreme Court, nominated to the 6th Circuit, and Justice David Stras of the Minnesota Supreme Court, nominated to the 8th Circuit Ė both of which were on President Trumpís exceptional list of potential justices for the Supreme Court.

Unfortunately, both of these appointees hail from states with two Democratic Senators Ė who will likely make it very difficult to elevate them to the Federal Circuits. We already know that Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will do everything in his power to stop President Trump, despite these fantastic candidates. As the White House noted on Monday, ďDemocrats in the Senate have delayed crucial appointments made by President Trump in an attempt to obstruct the will of the American people and the Presidentís agenda. . . . Only 2 of President Trumpís 23 judicial nominations have actually been confirmed by the Senate.Ē

The RNLA would like to applaud Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for his steadfast support of these nominees. He has already agreed to cut the Senateís August recess short to help work on important legislative issues, including President Trumpís pending nominations.

The RNLA is committed to supporting these fantastic appointees through the use of local and social media. Promoting at the state and local level also will also put pressure on Senate Democrats to confirm these Judges who will further uphold the rule of law by promoting individual liberty and enforcing the Constitutionís limitations on federal power.

Please stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter, and Blog for the latest news and how you can help support President Trumpís appointees to the federal bench.
