Scott Burton’s litigation practice includes insurance defense, products liability, mass tort and appellate matters. Before joining Wright Lindsey Jennings, Burton managed a misdemeanor docket for the Commonwealth Attorney’s office in Staunton, Virginia, where he negotiated plea agreements and conducted misdemeanor trials and felony hearings. He also spent time at Jackson Walker, LLP and the District Attorney’s office in Dallas.

In 2012, Burton interned in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York. As part of the Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit, he participated in the investigation and prosecution of violent organized crime throughout New York City. In 2008, he served as a regional vetting director for the McCain 2008 presidential campaign by providing support and strategic direction to vetting and political operations in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions of the United States.

Burton served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps Infantry and deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He was named a Washington Veteran Scholars Fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Legal and Judicial Studies where he worked with former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese.
